In January, my favorite digi scrap store, The Lily Pad, hosted it’s 3rd annual “Month of Challenges.” I always love attempting to make the 31 challenge pages. I’ve only “won” once (the first year), but I love having the nice collection of pages at the end of the month– and the challenges are so inspirational and at least a few of them push me outside of my comfort zones. Brave Soul | Made for the Month of Challenges “Freestyle” Challenge
This is one of those pages that really pushed me outside of my comfort zone. While I’m very good at admiring and pinning messy and freestyle art journal pages and smash book pages, I’m not very good at executing them myself. Having a challenge that not only dictated how many elements we had to use (a lot!) and what we had to place on the page– as well as the requirement that it had to be “messy” really helped me push through my “clean and simple” style when it comes to digital pages. PLUS, it let me use the amazing kits from the awesome art journal subscription that The Lily Pad has. And now I’m sort of addicted to these messy pages! Look how much COLOR I got to use!
